Traditionally our primary areas of focus have included works about states, travel, as well as interesting
biographical works. In an effort to diversify our offerings, we are now currently seeking submissions in all non-
fiction genres. We are interested in identifying and publishing works by authors with unique ideas.
Our books are available at fine bookstores across America, both chain and independent, as well as online
through Amazon.com and BN.com and many other sites. Our books are also available direct from
xavier-house.com. Our works can also be found in libraries and various specialty stores and gift shops.
Special Terms:
Please note that it is not the policy of Xavier House Publishing to offer any author an advance on future
sales. All authors are compensated through percentage-royalties based on actual sales of their books.
Xavier House Publishing also requires all authors under contract to make an investment in their book by
purchasing 100 copies at 55% off of the retail price. The typical cost to the author would be around
$500-700. Outside of the purchase of the author copies there are no fees associated with the publication of
Xavier House books.
Explanation for our policy:
Yearly over 50,000 books are published, and unless an author (especially an unknown author) is willing to
get out the door and work hard to promote their book, it will be virtually guaranteed to fail. Unfortunately
most new authors think that the money will pour in once their book is published. The harsh reality is with so
many new books released yearly over 70% of books actually lose money for their publishers.
Unfortunately there is no real good way for a publisher to know if a writer is truly willing, or able, to hit the
pavement in support of their book. It is our position that if an author is willing to purchase some copies of
their book, the chances of them having to proper motivation to boost their chances of success will be
greater. At Xavier House we want all of our authors to be successful. If an author is not able to do book
signings, media appearances, than they may want to explore other options for publication.
For those who just want to publish a few copies of their book for friends, family, or themselves we
recommend lulu.com.
For those who want more services there are many vanity press/self-publishing service providers to fill that
need. You may simply do a Google search for "self-publishers".
